Jim Zailo of the Interlakes area was the only local competitor at the 2013 BC Senior Men’s Championship golf tournament, hosted by Eaglepoint Golf Resort in Kamloops, July 28-31.

Zailo shot just two rounds, finishing 23 over par, and did not make the cut for the third and final round.

“I needed to shave eight shots off my total of two rounds. It was a lack-lustre performance on my behalf,” he says.

It was his third time competing at the championship event, where he’s never made it past the second round.

“So far, I’ve been shut out, but I’m still game. It’s a pretty tough tournament. These are the best senior golfers in the province and some have won previous amateur tournaments.”

Competitors had to be a minimum age of 55.

Zailo golfs with the 108 Resort Men’s Club and says he’s worked hard to reach the handicap level he’s at.

He plans to keep playing the tournament for as long as he can and would like to see other local golfers  give it a try as well.
