Wranglers grab a one-goal victory in Chase

The Wranglers travelled to Chase to battle the Heat in an effort to keep their grip on first place in the Doug Birks Division with only two weeks left in the regular season.

The 100 Mile House squad was able to wrestle the two points away from the Heat with a 3-2 victory in a tight game where the shots on goal were 33-31 for the Wranglers.

Michael Lynch, who garnered his fourth consecutive star of the game for the Wranglers, opened the scoring at 9:34 of the first period with an unassisted short-handed goal.

The Heat tied the scored with a power play marked at the nine-minute mark.

Tyler Povelofskie gave the Wranglers the 2-1 lead on assists from Brett Harris and Lynch at 7:49.

The Chase Heat opened the second-period scoring to knot the score at two apiece, but Cole Zimmerman notched the game winning goal at 6:46 with the assist going to Brady Ward.

There was no scoring in the third.

Zane Steeves played between the pipes for the Wranglers and stopped 29 of 31 Heat shots.
