“I haven't seen this many people at this event in years,” says event organizer Dimps Horn.
The Watch Lake-Green Lake Gymkhana brought in one of the largest amount of riders (50) and spectators the gymkhana has seen in many years.
This was a surprise considering the early morning rain that threatened to cancel the event. Thankfully, the rain passed and sun came out and made for a beautiful afternoon.
“There was definitely a lot of talented up-and-coming young riders at the event.”
The peewee riders made up the largest number for all the divisions at the gymkhana.
Some of these exceptional peewee riders included Kali Oliver who took first place in barrel racing and was the July aggregate winner, as well as Sam Harvey who took first in pole bending and stake racing.
Cassidy Mellott from Lone Butte was another talented rider as she took first place in keyhole and barrel racing for the intermediate division.
Mellott also went on to be the July aggregate winner for her division.
It was an excellent gymkhana, says Horn, adding it ran without a hitch.”
Horn also thanked all of the volunteers for their help with the event.
The next Watch Lake-Green Lake Gymkhana will be taking place on Aug. 13.
