Tim Bits and Milers get good results

A 100 Mile Tim Hortons Tim Bits Initiation team visited Clearwater on Jan. 14

A 100 Mile House Tim Hortons Tim Bits Initiation team visited Clearwater on Jan. 14 for a couple of exhibition games and ended the day as winner of both.

They downed their hosts 9-3 in the first game and 8-2 in the second.

100 Mile opened the scoring in game 1 with a goal by Riley Campbell, with just one minute gone on the time clock. Campbell doubled the lead, helping his team to a 6-3 first period lead.

Other first-period goals came from Daniel Villeneuve, with two, Reichert Sanford and Nolan Duff.

The remainder of the game went scoreless for Clearwater, while 100 Mile went on to pot three second-period markers. Caden Lacy lit up the lamp early in the second, followed by Sanford, making it a game pair for him, and Villeneuve struck again for the hat trick.

Game 2 saw 100 Mile leading 4-1 at the end of the first period, with a pair of goals by Campbell who made that a hat trick in the second period. Duff and Sanford scored a couple of goals apiece and Megan Holyk was good for one.

Bantam tourney

Williams Lake Bantams Reps hosted a Tier 3 Bantam Rep tournament at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre (SCRC) on Jan. 13-15, and the 100 Mile Mayvin Milers house team was one of the participants.

The Milers were strong throughout the tournament, winning two of their three round-robin games and carrying on to beat Prince George Maple Leafs, 6-5 in the duel for third place.

Prince George was up 4-2 at the end of the second period, but the Milers tied it up 4-4 in the third with two power play goals.

Ben Ryan found the back of the net with a penalty shot to put 100 Mile in the lead, but Prince George knotted the score again with seven minutes left in the third stanza. The Milers scored again to take and keep the lead.

"It was the best game I've ever been involved in as a coach," says Milers coach Duanne Popadinac.

Vanderhoof won the tournament and Williams Lake was the runner-up.

On the same weekend at the Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena in Lac la Hache, 100 Mile Ramblers Novice House fell 5-1 to the Williams Lake Canucks.

The 100 Mile Avalanche Novice House lost 8-3 to Williams Lake Warriors.

At the SCRC, 100 Mile House teams, Atom Development and Save-On-Foods Bantam Girls, battled to a 2-1 Atom win.

Sunrise Ford Mustangs Peewee Reps travelled to Williams Lake for a pair of games on Jan. 14. Both contests resulted in losses for the Mustangs, with their lone goal coming from Peter Peterson.
