Ski season inches closer with snow dump

Operators busy prepping Mt. Timothy Ski Area for upcoming start

Recent heavy snowfall was likely a welcome sight for skiers and snowboarders looking forward to the upcoming downhill season in the South Cariboo.

Operators at Mt. Timothy Ski Area, located near Lac la Hache, are very busy of late, prepping for a potential Dec. 13 start.

Grooming the runs and readying the chair lift are top priorities, explains general manager Adam Piccolo.

“With all the snow falling we have a lot of work to do. We're going through literally every nut and bolt [on the lift] and making sure everything is 100 per cent before we open. That's quite a bit of work, but you have to make sure it's safe.”

Meanwhile, a pre-Christmas, “stocking-stuffer” sale for Mt. Timothy lift tickets is going on now at local retailers.

Buyers can purchase four tickets for the price of three at Borgo's Sports Shack and Outlaw Urban Clothing Co. on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House.
