Strange Brew played the good hosts in its adult volleyball tourney at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School on Nov. 5-6.
The Fifth Annual Strange Brew Adult Volleyball Tourney attracted seven teams from around British Columbia.
The schedule was intense, with many back-to-back games, says organizer Josh Dickerson.
Beside the Yogi Beards and Strange Brew, the other teams who competed this year were: Bang-A-Rang from Kamloops; Ghostbusters from Kelowna; the Volley-Llamas from Kamloops; Dream Crushers from Hope and the Blackburn Brawlers from Prince George.
Saturday featured round-robin play, which set up Sunday for the playoffs.
The championship set saw Bang-A-Rang go up against the Yogi Beards. The Yogi Beards won the first two out of three games – 27-25 and 25-23.
Although they were really close in play level, Dickerson says the Yogi Beards were in control.
"At one point, Bang-A-Rang came back from a 14-point deficit, despite losing in the end.”
Bang-A-Rang had a more difficult run, he adds.
“They had to play back-to-back games right before their final. It was tough for them.”
In the end, the top 3 teams received cash prizes with the Ghostbusters taking third place.
The Volley-Llamas, Strange Brew, Dream Crushers and Blackburn Brawlers finished fourth through seventh respectively.
