Peewee Reps take two from Kamloops

Kyson Hopson continues on a scoring rampage with 12 goals on the weekend

The 100 Mile Peewee Rep team hosted Kamloops Tier 4 for a double header on Dec. 17-18.

The Dec. 17 game had a late start due to a pipe bursting near the penalty box just before the game.

100 Mile House Fire Rescue chief Roger Hollander says they got the callout at 1:30 p.m., and responded with eight members and one engine to commercial fire.

He adds they determined a sprinkler head was flowing water due to a frozen pipe.

"The rink was not officially evacuated due to the low risk. However, all occupants were able to muster in the lobby until the issue was resolved by Canlan staff and 100 Mile House Fire Rescue members."

After the puck was dropped to start the first period, team captain Kyson Hopson, with an assist from Elias Moore, scored just 90 seconds into the game, says team manager Gwen Scott.

The next goal was shortly after with Hopson scoring on an assist from Cameron Scott.

Kamloops came back with a goal halfway through the first frame, she adds.

Period 2 saw Kamloops tie it up, and at the start of the third, they scored again giving them a 3-2 lead.

It wasn't until late into the last period, 100 Miler Jackson Hooper (Hopson) scored and knotted the scored threes.

With less than two minutes left in the game, the coaches shortened the bench, Scott says, adding Hopson scored two more goals – the last one being an empty netter with only 17 seconds left on the clock.

The final score being 5-3 for the Milers.

Milers dominate

Sunday's game got off to a great start with Kamloops unable to stop the speed of Hopson as he scored four goals in the first period and assistant captain Jadyn Monical scoring one, Scott explains.

Kamloops only notched one goal.

In the second stanza, Hopson scored another marker for the 6-1 lead, and the seventh goal came on a hard slap shot from Nolan Duff. Goal 8 was scored by Jackson Hooper (Hopson, Carson Huryn).

In the final period, Hopson secured the Milers' lead by scoring three more goals, followed by 2 more from Kamloops.

The final score was 11-3 for the team.
