Marmot Ridge Open tournament for everyone

Marmot Open golf tournament takes place on Aug. 20

With each passing day goes another opportunity to play golf this season and those who aren’t getting their fill might want to consider entering the Marmot Open golf tournament.

It takes place on Aug. 20 at Marmot Ridge Golf Course with three age divisions and lots of prizes.

There are categories for men, women and juniors 18 years and under and you don’t need a handicap to play, says organizer Carolyn Jeffrey.

“This is a way for people to get in on a fun tournament that allows golfers without handicap cards to compete,” she says. “It opens the door to a few more people.”

Cost to register is $40 for adults and $30 for juniors and it includes 18 holes of golf, prizes and dinner at Marmot Ridge. Jeffrey says that the meal will be either catered or it will be a barbecue, but in any case, it will take place at Marmot Ridge.

People can register by calling the golf shop at 250-395-4169 and the deadline is Aug. 17.

The tournament will have a tee time start and it will get rolling between noon and 1 p.m.

Jeffrey says that she would especially like to see juniors come out and have some fun.
