Last Saturday's Lac la Hache Fun Spiel was considered to be a full house with 14 teams participating in the three-draw, four-end event.
The spiel took place at the 100 Mile Curling Club, as it has for years, and drew curlers from Williams Lake, Forest Grove, 100 Mile House, as well as people from the host club in Lac la Hache.
The Ken Moore rink with Milly Halcro, Anna Harvey and Shannon Knapp, from 100 Mile House, was the winning team.
In second place was the Romy Babuin rink with Karam Parsad, Brian Considine and Rod Schneider.
Taking third place was the team skipped by Graham Hodgson with Helen Bailey, Alda Poirier and Alan Faulkner.
The top 3 teams were awarded cash prizes, and all participants were invited to take part in a banquet turkey dinner prepared by Lac la Hache club members. Lorna and Alan Faulkner put the icing on the cake with their donation of a slab cake, decorated to resemble a sheet of curling ice.
Club director Barb McInnes says community support for the event was strong, with donations of store credit from both Safeway and Save-On-Foods for banquet necessities.
Lac la Hache businesses, DWB Forestry and Antel Towing, provided the first- and second-place prize money.
"A good time was had by all," McInnes says, adding she was particularly pleased to see one-and-a-half teams made up of junior-aged curlers.
"That was just great. They were a delight and it was nice to see their parents out supporting them, too."
