The 100 Mile 'N Hour U16 fastball team took on the U19 Big Guy League Blazers from Prince George on May 29.

It was the first time the U19 team had come to 100 Mile and the teams played two intense games of fastball.

Blazers started the first game off strong with five runs in the top of the first with two runners batted in (RBI) by Brydon Lessard.

However, 100 Mile 'N Hour players were quick to respond by scoring four runs by the bottom of the second with two RBIs by Warren McNabb.

The team's defence also tightened up as the Blazers were only able to score three more runs by the fifth inning.

Logan Parent hit two singles by the fifth inning for the local team, but Lessard, who pitches for the Prince George squad was able to hold 100 Mile back by notching eight strikeouts.

Blazers won the first game 10-6.

Game 2 saw 100 Mile jump out the gate with two runs in the bottom of the first.

However, the Blazers took the lead in the top of the second by scoring five runs.

The local lads would come back in the bottom of the third with two home runs scored by McNabb and Trevor McMahon.

Then, the game would change in the Blazers favour as they scored seven runs in the top of the fourth on a triple by Jarvin Sutton and a double by Brander Chadwell.

Blazers took the second game 17-9.

Blazers coaching staff commended the 100 Mile team on its performance.

They are a tough team with a good pitcher,” assistant coach Mike Sutton said. “They play a really good game of ball.

100 Mile coach Reg Hooper says he was happy to have his players go against an older team.

We love playing against stiffer competition, so it helps us improve in our own league.”

The 100 Mile 'N Hour U16 team will be playing against the Kamloops U16 team in Clearwater on June 12 and again in 100 Mile on June 19.
