The 100 Mile-N-Hour U12 fastball team was away again at a tournament hosted by Clearwater on June 3 and 4.

The team had a rough start in the first game against the Merritt Cougars, with the Cougars securing 10 runs in the first two innings.

Pitcher Elias Moore was put in at the top of the third inning. Moore managed to shut down the incoming runs, allowing 100 Mile to advance into the lead with a final score of 14-10. For his game-changing pitches, Moore earned himself the game Heart &Hustle award.

Game two against Barriere Stamer Logging started much the same, with some close innings. Thanks to a home run hit by Emily Tinney and some hard team work, 100 Mile advanced with a final score of 15-9. Tinney took home the game Heart &Hustle award.

With no break in between, the team headed into game three against the Clearwater Stingers.

100 Mile secured three runs in the first inning and, with the help of pitchers Cameron Scott and Reichert Sanford, the boys shut down Clearwater’s chance of scoring many runs, winning the game with a final score of 5-1.

The game’s Heart &Hustle honour was awarded to Reichert Sanford.

Sunday afternoon saw the undefeated squirt team heading into the finals against Clearwater for first and second place.

Unfortunately, despite an impressive catch by Quinn Carey, the team found itself struggling in the field.

Clearwater, however, appeared to be on their game, scoring a five-run first inning, making it difficult for 100 Mile to catch up. The final score was 13-5 for Clearwater, leaving 100 Mile-N-Hour U12’s with yet another silver medal.

Mikaela Anderson took home the team Heart &Hustle award.
