Students fundraising for cancer-stricken classmate

Friends raising money for family of Owen Ross at Farmers' Market

Local students are raising funds at the South Cariboo Farmers' Market on Aug. 28 for a classmate recently diagnosed with cancer.

Owen Ross, a former Grade 7 student at 100 Mile House Elementary School, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer similar to leukaemia.

Owen is currently in Vancouver undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatment, which is expected to last about six months.

Schoolmates are planning on raising funds for Owen and his family with performances, arts and crafts and baked goods at the South Cariboo Farmers' Market in 100 Mile House between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Anyone wanting to donate or get involved with this event can contact Elke Baechmann at 250-706-2481.
