Three graduating students pose in front of the mirrors at The Outlaw, trying on different outfits for the Grad Fashion Show.

"Wow. That's just. Wow," says Frankie Vitorino, the owner of The Outlaw as the girls come out of the dressing room. "You guys look so amazing."

Vitorino places a hat on one of the girls, asking if she has flats to set off the outfit.

"They have to feel comfortable and confident, that's the main thing," she says.

The Grad Fashion Show is a yearly dry grad fundraiser that will be taking place on April 13, at 7 p.m. in the Peter Skene Ogden Secondary gym.

The graduating students will be modelling clothing from several local businesses: Didi's Boutique, The Corral, The Outlaw, Lone Butte Sporting Goods and Cinderella's Closet. All over town leading up to the show, grads will be popping into stores to try on and check out their outfits.

This year's theme is 90s Babies, chosen because the graduating class of 2017 will be the last class to be born in the 1990s. Alongside the fashion, which is based on today's styles, the show will feature music and props from each of the years from 1999 to 2017. Music will be provided and DJed by Charles Bowatt from The Art of Noise.

"It's a really good fundraiser for prom because it brings in a lot of money, plus it's really, really fun. I've always looked forward to it, watching the older classes do it," says Grade 12 student Kalli McDonald-Wiens, one of the girls trying on outfits.

She says she's looking forward to the whole idea of it.

"Being able to walk the stage, and look nice and be able to participate in something that brings in money for the grad class," she says.

Vitorino says she gives the grads some advice before they head onstage.

"Smile and have fun, I keep saying to them. If, of course, they have family and friends coming to watch, I say pose for the pictures," she says. "It's a wonderful memory for them."

Attendees will get to share in on the fun as well. Alongside checking out the latest fashions, a ticket buys an entry into the door prize draw and raffle prizes will be available as well. Prizes range from donations from Billy Would Designs, the 108 Resort, Beaver Scraps Homemade, a Gels by Michelle gift certificate and a Robert Bateman print.

Tickets for the show available are for purchase at Didi's, The Outlaw or Donex for $10.

"This is a huge fundraiser for our kids, to be able to support them to have a safe way to celebrate, because the money does go towards their prom and towards dry grad. It's a great community event, it's lots of fun" says organizer Ganesa Wiens. "They've worked super hard to get where they are going and worked hard on tonnes of fundraising this year."
