Calling all coaches

Coaches needed for upcoming minor hockey season in 100 Mile

The right coach could be you.

“Coaches do not need to have children in minor hockey, or children at all for that matter,” says Kim Mills, first vice president of the 100 Mile & District Minor Hockey Association. “A love of the game, and a passion to pass the love on to today's youth is all you need.”

The local minor hockey association is looking for coaches in all divisions for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.

All prospective coaches must have a valid criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and the Hockey Canada, Respect in Sport Course, which is available online.

A Developmental 1 Clinic is also mandatory and must be completed by Dec. 15 of the current season.

If no coaches step forward by May 31 to coach a rep or atom development team, there is a risk that the association may not approve a team for the 2014-2015 season.

No coach means no team.

Applications are now available at the minor hockey office at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre or on-line at www. 100mileminorhockey.com.

Peewee, bantam and midget rep and atom development coaching applications are due by May 31.

If the office is closed, please submit the application through the mail slot beside the door.

The association will reimburse coaches in full for all courses that are completed and passed.

For more information please contact Kersti Foote, administrator, at 250-395-4344. Or Ryan O'Dette, coach coordinator, at 250-706-9317.

The next minor hockey meeting is June 3 at 7 p.m. in the Lions Den Meeting Room at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre.
