April Roberts' effort acknowledged

Volunteering is hard work, so when you are recognized for the time spent organizing, cajoling and completing a volunteer project, it makes it worthwhile.

The Heart & Stroke Foundation (HSF) sent a letter to April Roberts and her gang in the "TIB Jones & Friends" team who participated in the Big Bike Ride in May. They raised $2837.28 this year, bringing their total to $3,809.28 since 2010.

The Spirit Award for 100 Mile House was awarded to the team that had the most points of the day.

The points were earned by registering the team early, having team members register and fundraise online, and showing great spirit at the event by having costumes and cheers, having people raise more than $300, and attending the kickoffs.

To steal a line from the letter: "Big Cheer to you April from all of us here at the HSF."

And a big cheer to you and your team from 100 Mile House.
