The love of reading is a priceless gift.

It is a gift that opens doors to imagination, to meditation and to knowledge. It is a gift that lasts a lifetime.

National Literacy Day is Jan. 27, and it is suggested we “Play for Literacy,” by playing board, card or word games and encouraging literacy skills by having fun.

Reading to our children when they are very young, letting them experience the wonder of the written word, allows them to explore books on their own when they are older.

100 Mile House offers reading programs to help parents and children, Books for Babies, Bright Red Bookshelves, and the library has a wonderful selection of children and teen books.
