The Interlakes Community Centre (ICC) was delighted to host the “fixers”on Jan. 22. The four gentlemen from the 100 Mile Repair Cafe said they were kept very busy, with super-friendly people patiently waiting, and the whole experience was well beyond their expectations. For their part, residents were grateful to either have their problems resolved or to know that their items should head to recycling.

Condolences

Interlakers will be sorry to learn that Alyce Matthews passed away Jan. 20 at the age of 87. The family has had property at West Sheridan Lake since the late 60s and lived there permanently since 1987. There will be no public memorial.

Deepest sympathy is extended to her husband Stan, their family and many longtime friends.

Craft Mornings

Annie Judson has started Craft & Chat sessions at Bridge Lake General Store, at 10 a.m., Thursdays. She explains: “ (We) thought it would be nice to have a place to informally meet up to have a hot drink and company while we knit, crochet, cardmake, etc. Or just meet new friends!” For more info, PM her on Facebook.

Interlakes Library

Open hours at Interlakes Library (opposite The Country Pedlar) have recently changed to 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. They also have two computers on site for public use.

Bridge Lake Fair

Bridge Lake Fair advises that if you renew your $2 membership for 2024, either via PM to their Facebook page or e-mail to bridgelakefair@outlook.com, you will receive ongoing e-mail updates. Also, use these methods if you have an idea for this year’s 64th fair on Aug. 18.

Vendors are already booking space for Aug. 18 at Interlakes Community Centre. Note that I inadvertently deleted a waiting list of two people (plus Sue!) who were too late for 2023. In either case, if you wish to reserve a vendor space, please telephone this writer at the above number or send me a Facebook PM.

Interlakes

Horse Club

The Interlakes Horse Club is hosting an Open House at 6:30 p.m., March 1, at Interlakes Community Centre. They have “many exciting things in store for the 2024 riding season” and invite interested parties to attend.

In addition, they will draw the winner of a year’s membership, for someone who has purchased their membership by midnight Feb. 29. Information on membership is at interlakeshorseclub.ca. Each member will have an entry in the draw and, if you have a family membership, each family member has an entry. Valid Horse Council BC membership is required.

The club invites all disciplines of riding and all skill levels, a diversity that makes them special, and they look forward to meeting many new people on March 1.
