In loving memory ~
It is with sincere sadness that we share Wendy Williams of Lac La Hache has passed on. A long time resident of Lac La Hache, she has been an active community member, notably at the LLH Community Hall and the OAPO Cariboo Pioneer Senior Centre. She even received a Certificate of Appreciation from MLA Donna Barnett in appreciation for her dedication to the community.
As she was adopted at a young age and had no living relatives that she knew of, the community was her family and therefore this Covid pandemic and the accompanying restrictions had been especially hard on her socially, which could be the reason that she didn't seek medical attention sooner.
She had barely received a diagnosis and then she was suddenly gone. I personally have known her since I moved here, but it has only been the last year or so that I got to know her better, as I chauffeured her to appointments and to town for various reasons. Listening to her stories as we travelled around I came to realize what an amazing, courageous woman she was. Throughout it all she maintained her special sense of humour and matter of fact attitude.
At her request there will be no formal service but a celebration of her life will be held at a later time when Covid restrictions have eased.
Donations can be made, in her memory, to the LLH Volunteer Fire Department Hamper Fund (Box 38 LLH, V0K 1T0) or to the South Cariboo Health Foundation (Bag 399, 100 Mile, V0K 2E0)
Thank you to the Doctors and nursing staff that took special care of her during her short stay there. She frequently commented about how good they were to her. And also a big ''Thank You'' to Jeanette and Barb for all their assistance, especially in the last year.
Rest in Peace, Wendy.
