February 6, 1926 - May 16, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Violet Balla on May 16, 2021, at 95 years old. Born in Haverhill, UK, she immigrated to Canada as an infant, travelling by boat, and was the 2nd oldest of 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
She lived in Edam, Saskatchewan where she met Alphonse Gratton and where they raised their children Denis and Doris. Violet was remarried to her late husband Paul Balla in 100 Mile House, BC where they spent many, many years together fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening.
Violet was active in a local band playing piano and enjoyed dancing. She often played the piano and sang for seniors and at other local functions. She was never afraid of hard work and would operate a chainsaw and chop wood for the cold winters.
Violet is deeply missed by her family: daughter Doris (Jack); daughter-in-law Lynn; four grandchildren Brenda (Falko), Heather (Lee), Brent (Christine), and Jody; five great-grandchildren Aaron, Andrew, Caitlyn, Chantel, and Chelsea; and her sisters Edith (Norm), and Dorothy.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Paul Balla, as well as her son Dennis.
