Vera LaFontaine, age 73, passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2023 with her loving husband and family by her side. Vera was born August 25th, 1950 to her parents Bill and Jessie Kriwokon in Chilliwack, B.C. Vera's childhood and early adult life were spent in Port Alberni, B.C. Vera met her husband Michael LaFontaine in Tofino in 1966 and they were married on March 9th, 1968. Vera and Michael created a beautiful life together, they lived in several communities throughout B.C. and had four daughters Becky, Denise, Tara and Tina. Vera enjoyed the outdoors and all wildlife, especially birds. She found joy in gardening, fishing, and camping. A member of the Canadian Legion and many poker clubs, Vera spent her time volunteering and interacting with the communities. Vera is predeceased by her parents Bill and Jessie; siblings Leonard, Thelma and Bill Jr; her beloved daughter Becky Ann and son-in-law Herb Lainchbury. Vera's kind heart and generosity will be deeply missed by many, especially her daughters Denise (John), Tara, and Tina (George), her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family acknowledges and appreciates the care Vera received at 100 Mile Hospital and the ongoing love and support from family and friends. Memorial donations in Vera's memory can be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
