Ruth Elizabeth Allan

September 18, 2019

April 23, 1942 - September 18, 2019
It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Elizabeth Allan on September 18/2019. Ruth was 77 years old and is survived by husband Terry, son Roger, daughter Tricia, Grandchildren Kevin, Randy, Kelsey and Coleman, great grandchildren Ryker and Blayke as well as siblings Sharon, Bryan and Sandy. Ruth was predeceased by son Blake and brother Leslie.
Ruth was born in Vancouver on April 23rd, 1942 daughter of the late William and Arlene Giddens. It was in the lower mainland where Ruth grew up and later married her husband Terry in 1960. Together they moved to Fairview, Alberta and then returned to Surrey before settling in Deka Lake in 1975.
Ruth was always a very hard worker and took pride in the customer service she provided when working at Woodwards in Surrey and then at Safeway in 100 Mile House for 20+ years.
After retiring, Ruth pursued her passion for making preserves, cakes, giant cookies and most of all her legendary "Tuppys" relish. Ruth attended craft fairs and markets throughout the central interior and even made trips to Ft. McMurray and Grande Prairie to sell her wares. Tuppy's was so popular that many would pre-order cases at a time.
Ruth was always involved with her community whether it was with the Ladies Auxiliary for the Deka Fire Department, the Loon Bay market, the 100 Mile Farmers Market or the Deka Lake Fishing Derby.
Ruth always enjoyed visiting with friends while walking through the neighbourhood with her dogs. Ruth also enjoyed fishing, Bingo, Keno, playing cards and the odd trip to the Casino.
Ruth's always put her family first. She had a huge heart, had a ton of spirit and was never afraid to speak her mind. She was at her best with a house full of people on August long weekends or making sure the turkey and ham were just right for Christmas dinner. She was the ultimate host.
Ruth will always have a place in the hearts of her family and friends and be forever missed and loved. Until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date and held at the Deka Lake Fire Hall in the spring.
