May 19, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roxy Joanne Barnes, formerly of Lac La Hache on Tuesday May 19, 2020 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Roxy spent 45 years doing librarian work and the last 16 years of her career as the Area Librarian in 100 Mile House. Upon her death, a colleague wrote of her respect and admiration for Roxy as a librarian and all she did for the 100 Mile Community.
To mourn her loss Roxy leaves behind her sister Anne of Kelowna, nephew Dustin (Alecia) of Vancouver, niece Dawn (Jeff) and great nieces Ciera and Jetta of Kelowna.
In Prince George, she leaves behind her niece Shelley (Tim) great niece Taylor and great nephew James as well as nephew Shane (Maria) and great nieces Becky and Reanna. She will be greatly missed by many cousins. Roxy was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Vera Barnes, her brother Wayne and sister in law Brenda as well as her nephew Jared.
A Celebration of Life will hopefully be held later this summer depending on the Covid restrictions. Anyone wishing to attend may contact Anne at hoovesgalore@gmail.com for info as it becomes available.
Special thanks to Dr. Clarke and the wonderful nurses at the Cancer Clinic, the Community Palliative Care nurses and the nurses and staff at the Okanagan Hospice House.
