Later he worked winters on a trap line in the Cariboo. In his twenties, he moved back to the lower mainland and received his welders certificate. Richard opened his own mechanic/auto body repair shop in Surrey, B.C. he ran for many years. Richard rebuilt and customized Harley Davidson Motorcycles and won awards for his work at the PNE Auto Show. Later he returned to the Cariboo and continued his passion for rebuilding and customizing classic vehicles and motorcycles and fishing with his buddies. Having lived through many life tragedies Richard was a TRUE survivor.
