In Loving Memory ~
With great sadness we announce the passing of Olive Ann Pinkney (Giffin), May 6th, 2023, from an aggressive strain of ALS.
Ann moved to 100 Mile House with her father, mother and sister, in 1951 from Kitchener Ontario, to an unexpected new lifestyle in the country with the Emissaries of Divine Light at the Lodge community living complex. Community living was a no-frills way of life, everyone helping everyone. I guess that is where she first became such a generous person.
Ann graduated from the very first graduating class of 100 Mile House, a class of just 11 students. In 1961 she married Larry Pinkney and has two children, Alan & Maureen (Bill Harris), sister Sharon Morrow (George), stepbrother Randolph Woods (Sharron) all surviving.
Predeceased by her parents Morley Langford Giffin & Annie Jean Robertson.
Ann was a strong and amazing woman, raising two children in the bare basics of the small town back in the 1960's, barely power here and not even always running water. She was always hard working in the retail stores they owned, generous, kind and very supportive of her family and friends.
Ann was in the original group of the first Ladies Golf club at the 108 Resort back in 1973. She was involved in the beginnings of the 108 Ladies Lion Club, and many other organizations over her 72 years in 100 Mile. She knows we all loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed every day, our mom was our rock.
There will be no service at her request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the South Cariboo Health Foundation.
