Norbert Michael "Jake" Jakubowski
October 5, 1938 - October 9, 2017
It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband/father/brother/grandfather on October 9, 2017 at the age of 79.
Jake will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia; his sons, Michael (Shirley) and Curtis (Teresita); his grandchildren, Tania, Eric, Hayley, Aaron, Tianna, and Jaiden; his brothers, George and Donald; his half siblings, Joseph, Clifford, Gordon and Carol Lynn; his step siblings, Bill, John, Pat and Mary; and his beloved puppy, Cleo.
Jake had a very distinguished 35 year career in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class and later, Lieutenant (Navy). His proudest achievement was his investiture into the Order of Military Merit.
Jake and Pat fell in love with the Cariboo and retired to 108 Mile Ranch in October 1990 where they continued to reside until Jake's passing. Jake was well known for his quick wit and penchant for chucking zingers at his buddies. He had a soft heart and a more loyal friend you'd be hard-pressed to find.
Jake/Dad/Papa/Norb, we will always cherish the memories you gave us and our lives are far richer for having known you. You will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.
The entire family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Kelowna General Hospital for their professionalism and compassion and Dr. Geerts for his longtime care of Jake.
Respecting Jake's wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
