July 23, 1937 - May 1, 2022
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Mike Brundage. Born in Vancouver BC, July 23/1937, he passed away May 1/2022 at the 100 Mile House hospital. Dad lived an adventurous life. He grew up in North Vancouver and that is where he met and married Vera and had sons Wayne and Warren.
He started out in home construction in North Vancouver for a few years and then went on to be a produce manager at Super-Valu. Getting tired of the city life, he decided in the early seventies it was time for a change and went partners in a guest ranch in the Cariboo. These were definitely the most hectic years of his life but he enjoyed them. It was here that him and his wife parted ways and he met Dani, whom he spent the next 47 years with until his passing.
After moving from the ranch in the mid seventies he was involved in many ventures. Managing guest ranches, owning and operating a back hoe and dump truck, to owning and operating a convenience store with a gas bar and restaurant at 20 Mile House. It was when they lived in Clinton and 20 Mile that Taryn and Clayton were born.
After selling 20 Mile, they moved back to Langley for a few years where he once again got into construction and then became maintenance man at Newlands golf course.Again getting tired of the city life, they packed up and bought a little hobby farm just out of Clinton where he remained until his passing. After moving back to Clinton he worked for Wastech operating the local transfer station until his retirement. Dad loved the history of B.C. and especially the Cariboo.
After retirement he spent many years volunteering and working at the Clinton museum. He loved associating with people and telling his stories. One of his many accomplishments in life was his book he wrote; Tales of the Cariboo.
His greatest pastime in his later years was spending time with his grandchildren, working in his woodwork shop, keeping the yard beautiful and going for his morning coffees with " the crew".
Dad is survived by his loving partner Dani, his daughter Taryn (Justin), his sons Wayne (Wendy), Warren (Asuka), Clayton (Cheri) and grandchildren Eric, Jaymie, Tryst, Emmerson, Jameson and Charlee, one great grandchild Brayden, sister Ruth and extended family and many friends.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the 100 Mile House and Kamloops hospitals for your exceptional care while he was there and thanks to our local ambulance crews. Also to our Clinton nurse Tiffany and our Clinton community paramedic Diana for your care of him on his final days at home. You people are amazing.
We are planning a get together on his birthday, Saturday July 23 at the family home on Kelly Lake Road in Clinton. Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers and condolences.
Go ride the dusty trails in heaven Dad.
