Jan. 30, 1922 - Jan. 18, 2012

Les was born in Rotterdam, Holland and spent his youth appreciating art as well as fine tuning his own artistic skills. He aspired to become an architect; however, circumstances dictated otherwise for Les and he became an accountant until moving to Canada in 1954. His life in Canada found him working and able to paint in his spare time until retirement in 1984 when he took to painting full time. Les was a successful artist and he was one of a group of 12 professionals known as “The West Coast Artists”. After a fishing trip to the Cariboo in 1984, Les was taken by the peacefulness of the country and he relocated to 100 Mile House with Johanna and has remained here since.

Les leaves behind his wife Johanna,100 Mile House, with whom he shared a special love; his children Connie (Jeff) and Marten (Letty), Ontario; grandchildren Rebecca, Timothy and Christopher, Ontario; along with many friends he has met throughout his life.

Les will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
