Joe KATCHMAR

It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Katchmar announces his passing on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the age of 86 years. Joe was born in Poland in 1925 and came to Canada with his parents in 1929. As a young man, Joe left the family farm in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan to pursue a career in road construction. He met and married his wife Ruth Coulson in 1950 and they settled at the 93 Mile to raise a family. Joe and Ruth built a successful road construction company and it was his passion in life until his retirement. Joe was an avid fisherman and had a keen interest in politics and his local community.

Joe was predeceased by his wife Ruth and his brothers Frank and Steve. Joe will be forever remembered by his partner of seven years, Loli Kossack and his children: Steve (Monika), Joanne, George (Cindy), Ruth (Jim) and Diane (Peter). Joe will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his sisters: Stella, Annie, Jean and Minnie; his brother Tony and brother-in-law John Coulson.

A Funeral Service in memory of Joe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28th, at the 100 Mile Funeral Home, 225 Cedar Avenue, 100 Mile House, B.C. Interment will follow at the 100 Mile Cemetery.
