Jan passed away, lovingly surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Jan was born in Vancouver to his Danish parents, Kirsten and Svend Hansen.
At a young age, Jan, his parents and younger sister, Connie moved to the 108 Ranch where his love of nature and the outdoors began. He loved dirt biking, camping and fishing. He was always up for an adventure.
Jan had a creative and curious mind which inspired him to play the clarinet and guitar, he was a gifted "cartoon artist" and loved to "learn" about almost anything. Jan spent time in Penticton and Edmonton after high school and then made his way back to the Cariboo where he continued his trade as a carpenter. He worked alongside his dad building houses and they were well respected for being hardworking, honest and meticulous.
After a few years, Jan made his way to Ladner where his sister and her family resided. He then started working for the movie industry, building and creating sets. Soon, he was the lead carpenter and was well liked and respected for his work.
Jan was lucky to have a large, extended family and he loved being part of it, whether it was camping at Eagan lake or a simple get-together. We will miss his big smile and great conversations.
Jan is predeceased by his mother, Kirsten and is survived by his 90-year- old father, Svend, sister, Connie (Don) and his nieces, Cassidi and Kylie.
