Irene died peacefully on August 10, 2009 in 100 Mile House, BC. She was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and married Jack Thomas in 1944, together they raised four children. Irene worked at the Royal Columbian Hospital for many years. In 1976 she married Nick Popowich, they enjoyed square dancing, fishing and gardening. Irene was predeceased by her son Gordon Thomas, husband Nick Popowich, her sister Frieda Boutilier, brother Bill Griffin and grand daughter Tanya Thomas. Irene moved to 100 Mile House in 2007, she appreciated being comforted by family as her health was failing. She will be sorely missed and forever in the hearts of her children; John (Sue), Larry (Leslie), and Ken (Irene), her grand children; Amy, Trevor, Marcus, and great grandchildren Gordon and Christopher.
