November 10, 1942 - February 5, 2024

In loving memory ~

He has left us better people for having walked with him for a time. Ian Gunn passed peacefully on February 5, 2024, in 100 Mile House. He loved and was loved by Del since they were teenagers and throughout their 58 years of marriage. His sister Margo always looked up to him and will miss her big brother. His children Chris (Mark), Lori, and Shane (Meg) were raised by the best dad they could have hoped for. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan. Jazmin, Madelyn (Lynden), Quinlan, Ocea (Layne), and Maxen will miss his many stories. Cousins who were more like sisters, Janet (David) and Sandra (Lyall), and their families will miss him dearly. Ian is predeceased by his parents, Sinclair and Isobel.

Ian was born on November 10, 1942 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He and Del moved from The Pas, Manitoba to the 108 Ranch in 1978 on a great adventure to build a log home, raise their children to appreciate the outdoors, and contribute to the community. While he proudly proclaimed he had never interviewed for a single job, he held many: teacher, funeral director, customs broker, realtor, tour guide, background actor,... the list goes on.

He loved his family, his homes, singing, fishing, sailing, travelling, meeting others, hearing their stories, and telling his. He taught us the importance of vulnerability, the value of service, and the need to say it like it is. We are left with huge holes in our hearts that we know he would want us to fill with evenings of laughter, trips to far-flung places, music, new friends, old friends, and good books.

The family looks forward to sharing memories of Ian at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17 at the 108 Mile Ranch Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the South Cariboo Health Foundation.
