Garnet Emerson McAfee, age 73, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2020, in 100 Mile House, B.C.
Garnet is survived by his son Duane (Zanna), his step-daughters Cherie and Treena (David), his sibling Heather (Ron) and his 12 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, step- son Buck, his parents Donald and Dorothy and brothers Roger and Roderick.
Garnet was born May 29, 1946 in Timmins, Ontario. Growing up in Elliot Lake, Ontario Garnet loved water skiing, playing baseball and playing guitar in his high school band.
Garnet moved to B.C. in his 20's to help his brother with a boat trailer company. He married his wife Cheryl shortly after moving to Lone Butte, in 1981. Garnet retired from the Petro-Canada bulk station in late 2010 where he drove fuel truck for many years, but after a few months, he felt he was not ready to retire, so he tried his hand at driving dump truck for a couple of years before finally retiring. One of his memorable jobs was when he worked as part of the set up crew for Great Cariboo Ride Expo 86'. Garnet always enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. His family and friends will remember him as a caring, loving person who enjoyed telling a good joke and had a great sense of humour. We will miss him dearly.
At Garnet's request, there will be no service. The family would like to thank Dr. Nicolson, the nurses and staff at Fischer Place (E wing) and the staff at 100 Mile District General Hospital.
