1926 - 2005
Following a brief illness, Fred passed away peacefully on May 20, 2005, age 78, at Royal Inland Hospital with his family by his side. Fred was predeceased in 1998 by his beloved wife Barbara (Barrie); survived by his four children: Debra, Dan (Tasha), Mark (Pam), Kristine (Dave); eight grandchildren: Kevin, Carlene, Deryk, Dayna, Garon, Chase, Jesse, Darryl; and two great grandchildren: Keegan and Logan. The third of seven children born to Johannes (John) Carl Engelland and Elsie Engelland, Fred also leaves his two brothers, four sisters, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Fred had the ability to entertain family and friends with detailed stories of his early years working on the tug
boats moving barges and log booms up and down the B.C. coast. He and Barrie took
early retirement in 1974, moving to Eagan Lake in the South Cariboo where Fred served many years as president of the Green Lake/North Bonaparte Stockmen’s Association. Funeral services were held Friday, May 27, 2005 in Kamloops.
