Edna was a long time resident of Fischer Place and passed away peacefully to begin her "new adventure".
She was predeceased by her husband Duncan, sister Norma and brothers Clyde and Lester. She is survived by sisters Doris and Bernice, and brother Robert, all in Nova Scotia. Edna leaves behind her children Ron (Carol) Raymond (Connie) Ross (MaryLynn) Ruth (Al) and Sylvia (Randy) as well as 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Edna was born in South Rawdon Nova Scotia to Watson and Belle McLearn. She moved to Halifax for work at age 16 and a year later moved to Brooklyn to work for a doctor. While living there she bought an Indian motorcycle and commuted to South Rawdon until she met and married Duncan in 1947. Edna was very accomplished quilter and won numerous awards for her quilts.
She knitted cardigan sweaters using buffalo wool and one of her most cherished plaques is from Tim Hortons Kids Camp where she knit and donated hundreds of pairs of mittens for underprivileged children.
She moved to Lac La Hache in 1971 and called 100 Mile House her home. Her love of travel took her across Canada a dozen times as well from Mexico to Inuvick. Her last trip was a trip she did alone at age 80 from Halifax to 100 Mile House in a remarkable three days and four nights. Edna had a heart of gold and a smile a mile wide. She will be missed by all who knew her especially by those who knew her as Gram Grammie and Momma C. A very heartfelt thanks to all the Fischer Place crew for going that extra mile to make her final years good years. A celebration of her long fun filled and adventurous life will take place at a later date.
