Douglas Scott 'Doug' Fenton (Captain Retired)

April 25, 2021

January 27, 1944 - April 25, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Doug, on the morning of April 25, 2021.
Left to mourn are his wife, Linda of Abbotsford, BC; sister Beverley Wilkinson of Green Lake, BC; son Michael (Pauline) of Castlegar, BC and family; son David (Carmen) & family of N. Vancouver, BC; daughter Elizabeth (Dave) Piket & family of Summerland, BC; stepdaughters Nicole (Shawn) Pattison & family and Jennifer (Andy) Taylor & family all of Abbotsford; stepdaughter Jennifer (Paul) Swenson & family of Washington, US; one niece Carolyn Wilkinson (partner Todd Milburn) & family; nephews Ken Wilkinson & family and Gordie Wilkinson & family.
Doug grew up in Clinton, BC and joined the Canadian Air Force in September, 1963. He trained in various locations across Canada, but spoke mainly of his experiences in Cold Lake, AB, Gimli, MB and Centralia, ON.
During Doug's service he was based in France and Germany where he flew the F104 Starfighter, which was one of the highlights of his life. He was transferred to Texas where he trained pilots.
Due to medical reasons, Doug left the Air Force in January, 1977. He went to the Univ. of Manitoba and received his law degree and moved to BC to practice municipal law. Doug again had a decline in health and left the law practice.
In 1998, Doug received a heart transplant and life resumed again for him. Doug purchased and flew his own plane an RV-8, resumed golfing, traveling and enjoyed visiting with family and friends across Canada and United States.
Doug organized reunions with his Starfighter brothers and their families throughout the past years, meeting up on cruises or gathering together for Starfighter memorials/unveilings.
A huge thank you to the Doney family of Havre, Montana for the amazing gift of their son's heart. Their son's heart gave Doug 22 wonderful years. Doug became a mediator in the last few years, which he enjoyed very much and commented on how rewarding it was.
Once again Doug's health declined and he knew it was time to take his "final flight".
Due to Covid a memorial will be held at a later time.
He wished to be remembered as "A Hell of a Fighter Pilot!"
