In loving memory ~
We regret to announce the passing of David Taylor at the 100 Mile Hospital following a lengthy illness. David was born in Vancouver B.C. and moved to 100 Mile at a very young age. He grew up at the Lodge property in town and graduated from 100 Mile Secondary in 1968. He left 100 Mile to work on various survey projects around the province. He did a road trip that took him across Canada and back. He then returned in 1971 to work for the Ministry of Highways as a surveyor until he retired in 2005. He worked on many local projects including Hwy24.
David followed in his mother's footsteps as a volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion Local branch #260. He received the Volunteer of the year award in 2008. He received an honorary lifetime membership in 2023.
He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee at the different cafes around town, and had a friendly smile and greeting for everyone he knew.
David is survived by his sister Daphne Taylor and Betty Goertz (Ken) and nieces and nephews Andrew Goertz (Meghan), Pamela Goertz, Amanda Goertz (Fernando), Gillian Taylor (Tyler), and Richard Taylor. He also had 2 grand nieces, Erica and Ruby who he was very fond of.
He will always be remembered for his willingness to help whenever he could, and for always keeping an eye out at the share sheds for things that would bring joy to family & friends. He seemingly never forgot anyone's birthday and will be greatly missed.
A memorial will be planned at a later date.
