April 20, 1960 - December 15, 2020
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we share Dave's sudden passing after a short battle with ALS.
Dave was predeceased by his son Ian Robert in 1994, Father James Robert Dunbar in 1996 and Father in-law Robert John Slack in 1998. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Lisa daughter Haley, Mother Joan Dunbar, Sister Robin Rusaw (Brian), Mother in-law Joyce Slack and many, many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Dave was born in Vancouver April 20, 1960, with his early years growing up in Delta. The Cariboo was his home for the past 52 years, and the people and communities within were very dear to him. His career as a Master Heavy Duty Mechanic spanned more than 42 years. Dave's expertise took him to many remote logging operations up and down the coast and across the province, but working close to home was where he loved to be.
His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and blowing up just about anything. Dave's larger than life personality, his laugh, and his love for his family will live on in our hearts. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Dave passed away in my arms with his girl holding his hand and giving him kisses. He was very sick, and knowing the stoic strong proud man he was, he didn't want his girls looking after him like that. I knew he was struggling, so we whispered to him to go to his boy. He squeezed my hand and slipped away....I have been so blessed and privileged to love this man for 33 years. I love you baby... Way up to the sky and the moon and the stars. Sleep sweet my love.
A celebration of life will be held at a future time. Donations can be made in Dave's memory, to the ALS Society of BC and/or 100 Mile District Hospice Palliative Care Society.
