December 16, 1947 - February 8, 2022
Darla passed away at her daughter's home in North Vancouver on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 after being diagnosed in Sept. with pancreatic cancer. For six months, she bravely, calmly, and without complaint faced the terrible, relentless disease which took her from us.
When she died, two of her close friends, her husband, and her daughter were with her. During the time she was ill, Darla received many supportive texts, cards, notes, phone calls, and bouquets of flowers from her family and many friends and special long-term attention from two close friends, Lynn Landry and Joanne Lapin.
Her family will always be grateful to Lynn and Joanne.
Darla loved to quilt and to be at sessions with her quilting friends. The many beautiful quilts she made and gave to family and friends are now treasured. Although her family is heart-broken at her loss, they have the consolation of knowing that everything possible was done medically and to ease her difficulty and that she could be at home.
Darla was born in New Westminster on Dec. 16, 1947 and grew up in White Rock, B.C. She taught Home Economics at 100 Mile House Secondary School from 1970 to 1975 and at Ogden Senior Secondary School from 1994 to 2008.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, her daughter Regan (Mark), her son Arne, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Jack, and Anna. Her attention to her family, especially at Christmas, can never be replaced. Her ashes will be interred on her mother's grave at Sunnyside Cemetery in White Rock.
