It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Darla Barbara McDermid, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Darla was born in Vancouver on May 11th, 1949 to loving parents Mildred and Herbert Hillstrom. She grew up in Surrey, BC along side her older sister Selene whom she loved and adored.
Darla met the love of her life in high school and they married in 1969. Five years later they moved to 100 Mile House with their 2 young sons and established roots. Nine years later they welcomed their 3rd child, a daughter.
Darla was known for her gentle soul, beautiful smile and warm heart. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed!
Surviving Darla is her devoted husband Dan; children: Ryan, David (Sheila), and Amanda (Alex); grandchildren: Aaron, Michelle, Keith, Alexis, Carmen, Willow and Isla. Her sister Selene Berg (Freddie), niece Gina and nephew Trevor and their families.
A celebration of life will be held this summer at their beautiful lake front paradise.
