Audrey Mackintosh, aged 88, of Fischer Place passed away peacefully on May 29, 2017 at the 100 Mile House District General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 26, 1929 to Andrew and Mary (Hanley) Mitchell.
Audrey came to Canada on a holiday with her sister Muriel, traveling through the provinces where she fell in love with British Columbia. There she met a young man by the name of Bill Mackintosh and fell in love with him. Audrey and Bill were married April 1, 1950. They had five children, raising them in Vancouver and later moving to 100 Mile House in 1976.
She was a strong and independent woman way before her time. She was also a devoted wife and mother, who taught her children empathy and to look for the good in others. Always putting them before herself. She cooked chicken soup when they were sick and gave lots of cuddles on the couch while watching their favourite shows together. Memories of Birch Bay sitting around the fire roasting wieners and marshmallows and laughing and laughing with her.
She was the best cook and loved to entertain friends and family. Bill always requested her lemon meringue pies, which she made plenty of. Everyone who knew her looked forward to her home cooking.
She belonged to the Legion, where she held a position as the President and worked as Auxiliary. She was actively involved in various charities, helping anyone who asked, also visiting the sick patients in the hospital handing out fruit and a kind word to anyone who needed it.
She will be missed by all who loved and cherished her independent spirit.
She is survived by her son, William Mackintosh (wife Lori); daughter, Gail Pacheco (husband Armenio); son, Scott Mackintosh (wife Sylvia); son, Stuart Mackintosh (wife Brenda); son, Glen Mackintosh; her many grandchildren, Kelli, Jason, Erin, Timothy, Tawney, Nathan, Nicki, Chelsea, Brianna, Jaime and Troy; great grandchildren, Justus, Adam, William, Lain, Livy, Madison, Caily, Keegan, Nevaeh, Chloe, Evan, Harper, Haylee, Emilee, Danielle and Brittany.
Predeceased is her husband, William Mackintosh (June 1997) and her grandson, Justus Pacheco (April 1995).
