The District of 100 Mile House fixed a water main leak at the crossroad of Evergreen Crescent and Balasm Street last week.

Todd Conway, director of community services, said the leak was discovered during the middle of the night on Thursday, April 18. On Friday, April 19, Conway said district staff had located the leak and isolated the main, leaving eight residences without water.

“We are working on it right now and there’s a lot of B.C. Hydro and telecommunications underground there, so it will be a slow fix,” Conway explained on Friday. “We will be on it until it’s back on.”

After using hydro-vac trucks to drain the surrounding area, Conway said the cause of the break was determined to be a broken fitting. After replacing the broken part water was restored to the eight residences on Friday around 2 p.m.

During this fix, Evergreen Crescent and Balsam Street were partially closed with traffic control in place.
