South-end schools swap principals

School District 27 administrative changes will happen in the new school year

Administrative changes in School District 27 (SD27) will see new faces in some of the principals' offices at South Cariboo schools.

SD27 superintendent Diane Wright notes that while Marjatta Chapman is away on leave, Donna Rodger will take over a temporary position as principal of 100 Mile House Elementary.

Marty McClusky will be returning to his position as principal at Horse Lake Elementary, where Wright notes Rodger had filled in last school year during his leave.

Wright says Kathleen Clarke has been reassigned to move over as temporary principal at Buffalo Creek Elementary.

Forest Grove Elementary will now see Shawn Nelson as acting principal this fall, she explains, filling Clarke's role the past two years.

Nelson was a teacher at Buffalo Creek and 100 Mile Elementary schools, and has been employed with the school district since 1988. He was slated to move into the vice-principal role at 100 Mile until these recent reassignments.

Former Lac la Hache teacher Maria Gust will now step in as the acting vice-principal at 100 Mile Elementary, where the school's newsletter states that former vice-principal Jim Price chose to return to the classroom.

"Everybody currently in an administrative position was scheduled to be a principal or vice-principal in the system, except for Ms. Gust. We've pulled her from the teaching ranks to step in next year as the V-P."

Wright says Gust has also taught at Dog Creek Elementary, but was born and raised in the 100 Mile House area.
