A 75-year-old man was transported to the Royal Inland Hospital, in Kamloops, for further assessment after a single vehicle incident on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24.
Staff Sgt. Svend Nielsen said Monday that vehicle left its lane, went into the ditch, rolled once and landed upright in the ditch.
He said the man appeared to have been thrown from the vehicle after it rolled.
“The extent of his injuries weren’t disclosed to the member investigating at the hospital,” said Nielsen, “but he was conscious and coherent at the time when we were initially talking to him.”
Nielsen was unable to confirm which direction the man had been driving in, because he said no skid or yaw marks were reported to have been left on the pavement.
He said the man’s seatbelt “was not in a locked position from the collision.”
Original story (Aug. 24): 100 Mile House RCMP as well as fire and ambulance services responded to a motor vehicle incident on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road, around 1 kilometre from Highway 97, before 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24.
One vehicle was in the ditch and single-lane alternating traffic was directed through the area.
Cpl. Brian Lamb of the 100 Mile RCMP said one person was in the vehicle, and they are being treated by paramedics at the scene.
Fire fighters had hoses out, but Lamb said there was no risk of fire due to the incident.
No further information was available as emergency responders were still in initial stages.
