Single-cup coffee makers recall underway

Bosch Tassimo brewers and the Tassimo Professional brewer made by BSH recalled

There is a joint recall with BSH Home Appliances Corporation, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission underway.

The recall involves Bosch Tassimo brewers and the Tassimo Professional brewer made by BSH. The brewer uses plastic discs (T Discs) that are filled with coffee or tea to brew hot drinks that can burst and spray hot liquid, coffee grounds and/or tea leaves onto users or bystanders, posing a burn hazard.

There have been 140 reports from consumers who have come into contact with hot liquid, coffee grounds and/or tea leaves discharged from the brewer, including 37 reports of second-degree burn injuries.

The espresso T Discs, produced during a certain time period, appear to be the problem, as they can burst.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Tassimo brewers and check the website below to see if their coffee makers are on the recall list.

Folks, who have coffee makers on the recall list and call the toll-free number below, will be sent the part that holds the T Discs in place when the top is closed if they qualify. This part easily clicks in and out of the coffee maker.

Furthermore, folks, who have products that use the espresso discs, will be asked to read the code on the packaging and they will be sent a voucher to purchase new products that weren’t produced during the recall time period.

Consumers will be asked to throw away the potentially dangerous espresso discs they have in their possession.
