Some drivers had trouble negotiating the wintry roads after a dump of snow on Feb. 10. Emergency crews had a debriefing after cleaning up the mess of a two-vehicle incident at 101 Mile.

100 Mile RCMP responded to 52 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

Artistically challenged

On Feb. 13, 100 Mile RCMP received a report that a building had been vandalized in the 108 Mile Ranch.

The Cariboo Regional District pump house on Kallum Drive had been defaced with gold spray paint both on the brick and on the metal.

Anyone having information about this incident is asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Refuse to blow

On Feb. 12, 100 Mile Traffic Services stopped a vehicle on Highway 97 in 100 Mile House, as the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver demonstrated symptoms of being impaired by alcohol. The male driver failed the approved roadside-screening device at the scene.

He was transported to the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment offices, where he subsequently refused to provide breath samples. The driver was held in cells until sober and released with a court date in May. Charges of impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample have been recommended to Crown against a 51-year-old resident of Kitwanga.

Out of control

On Feb. 10, 100 Mile RCMP and 100 Mile Traffic Services responded to a two-vehicle collision at 101 Mile on Highway 97, north of 100 Mile House.

The driver of a southbound vehicle lost control and impacted a vehicle travelling northbound in the slow lane. The three occupants of the northbound vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries, were taken to hospital by ambulance and were subsequently released.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was not injured. He was determined to not have a valid driver's licence and was charged appropriately under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The damage to both vehicles is believed to be in excess of $3,000.
