RCMP busy with MVI, drinking driver and excessive speeder

Intersection collision

On Nov. 14, 100 Mile House RCMP and Emergency Responders attended an incident on Highway 97

at the intersection of Exeter Station Road.

The driver of a pick-up truck driving south on Highway 97 turned east in front of another pick-up truck, causing a collision. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. A passenger of the first truck was transported to 100 Mile District General Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the second vehicle attended the hospital on their own.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The investigation into this collision is continuing.

Driving prohibition

On Nov. 14, Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services was conducting speed enforcement north of

100 Mile House on Highway 97.

A vehicle was observed being operated in excess of the speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified.

During conversations with the out-of-province driver, an odour of liquor was detected coming from his breath. Open liquor was also found inside the vehicle.

An approved screening device was administered at the scene and the result was a fail. A second test was requested and the result was also a fail.

The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

Excessive speeding

On Nov. 13, Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile House.

A vehicle was observed being operated well in excess of the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified.

The driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
