District of 100 Mile House Mayor Mitch Campsall has been acclaimed president of the North Central Local Government Association during the annual general meeting in 100 Mile, May 2-4.

Campsall says he's looking forward to working with the NCLGA membership to move forward with some ongoing initiatives, as well as the numerous new resolutions from the floor at the AGM.

"I've been working toward this for about three years, and I'm really excited about it."

He notes his experience on the board during the past four years, and as the vice-president this past year, provides a good climate for working along with other longer-term directors and supporting any new board members.

"I worked my way up the ladder, and that's what it is. Once you get in the polls, they keep pushing you."

The staff will also help Campsall and the rest of the board prioritize which issues need addressing quickly, he explains.

"The people working around [us] are really phenomenal. It's a good group of [people]."

He notes the NCLGA membership has "good representation from throughout the province."

Delegates from all of those communities were at the annual conference, Campsall says, adding 100 Mile is the southernmost association member.

"We're basically a lobby group for the north, and we're going to take the issues and [any that] come up in midstream and run with them."
