Longtime Clinton resident's death ruled a homicide

RCMP looking for assistance on James Painter's activities on Sept. 10

RCMP are investigating the death of longtime Clinton resident James Painter who was found unresponsive in his trailer on Sept. 10.

The Clinton RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 callout, and when they arrived at the home, an emergency health services crew was already on the scene, but it was unsuccessful in resuscitating the 61-year-old man.

Originally, the RCMP was treating the Painter's death as suspicious, but following an autopsy on Sept. 12, the case was upgraded to a homicide investigation.

The RCMP is not considering Painter's death as a random incident, and is not releasing the cause of death at this time.

The RCMP is, however, asking anyone with information about Painter's whereabouts and activities on Sept. 10 to call the Clinton RCMP Detachment at 250-459-2221, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or www.bccrimestoppers.com.
