Len Doucette sets sights on council

Local businessman to seek District councillor seat this fall

Len Doucette has confirmed his "definite" intention to run for a District of 100 Mile House councillor position in this fall's local government elections.

A few weeks ago, the 108 Mile Ranch resident and general manager of The Hills Health Ranch indicated he was considering running for either mayor or council.

"I've decided to go for council, not for mayor. I believe I'd need to have some experience on council before I decide to run for mayor."

Doucette adds he has "a lot of public support" to go after a councillor's seat.

"People are looking for a change, and I believe I am the person to help initiate that change."

Meanwhile, starting to attend all the open council meetings and reviewing District bylaws and constitutions are helping him get prepared and informed, he explains.

"I'm learning the ropes as much as I possibly can."

Doucette says he consulted his wife and family, who encouraged and supported him in making this decision.
