Interior Health will honour vaccine appointments made erroneously in 100 Mile House last week due to a call centre error.
Several 100 Mile House residents made bookings outside their prescribed age slots following a mix-up by a call centre working with Interior Health.
The health authority said today it has reviewed the bookings and the vast majority were made by people eligible at the time or “based on the rapidly accelerating eligibility criteria would be eligible by the time of their appointment.
“Therefore, the appointments will stand due to the logistic difficulties of cancelling and rebooking for minimal benefit considering rescheduled appointments would move by only a week or two,” Interior Health said in an email to the Free Press.
“For people still trying to book appointments, creating clinics to meet the demand is a work in progress. We understand it is frustrating for people to have to call back, but we ask everyone to be patient and know that everyone will get an appointment.”
The mix-up occurred as Interior Health opened up bookings in smaller communities - including Clinton and its surrounding area - to everyone 18 and older. The call centre had mistakenly included 100 Mile House on the list.
100 Mile remains in phase two of Interior Health’s vaccination plan, which includes seniors 75 and older living in the community. The clinics have been using both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines interchangeably based on what’s been available. Both are two-dose series, which means in 16 weeks those getting vaccinated this month will receive a second shot.
The Clinton vaccinations will occur April 15-16. People in those communities will be asked to provide identification to prove they reside in the applicable region and should make an appointment in advance by calling 1-877-740-7747, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., seven days a week.
Interior Health expects to have all adults in the province vaccinated by June.
